Taming a wild coastline

How do you make a modern house, set in several acres of rugged Cornish coastline, comfortable in its context? That was the challenge with this landscape design project in St Agnes, close to one of the South West’s most important landmarks. We embraced the exposed nature of the site with a simple design that blends unassumingly into the surrounding countryside, yet provides a natural garden space that compliments the formality of the architecture. Wildflower meadows, native trees, and scrubland thrive despite the persistent salt-laden winds. Together, they provide a welcome haven for insects and birds. The project was completed in Autumn 2018.
